Dear Clients,
I have been reading and hearing about scammers calling Medicare Beneficiaries about the new
Medicare ID cards that will be sent out beginning this month (April) 2018.
I want to you to be aware of what the scammers are trying to do. Some are telling beneficiaries
they must first buy a temporary card for $5.00 to $50.00 and provide personal information
before they received their new Medicare card. This is NOT true. This is a scam! This is
happening in Sacramento right now.
Here’s what you need to know to protect yourself:
New Medicare cards will be mailed directly to you at the address you have on file with
the Social Security Administration (SSA). PLEASE take a moment to make sure SSA has
your correct address. Go to: https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/ or call 800-772- 1213.
Cards will begin arriving this April through June 2018.
Medicare will NOT call you about the new card or ID number. Neither will SSA!
The new cards are FREE.
The new card will NOT include Social Security numbers.
You are getting a new special encrypted number with the same benefits.
After receiving the new card, shred the old card.
Those on Medicare Advantage Plans will still use their insurance ID cards. Just put your
new Medicare ID card in a safe place, as you will not be able to enroll/change plans
without it.
If you, or someone you know becomes aware of Medicare related phone scams, please call the
Senior Medicare Patrol at 1-855- 613-7080.
Do not hesitate to call me if you need assistance.
Always,
Bill Youngblood – Insurance Super Store
